Day in and day out the news media
reports that two thirds of americans are are overweight
or obese and who is really to blame? If the statistics
were lower then it would insinuate it is the consumers
problem with simply eating too much but since this
is a epidemic problem it insinuates its a media problem.
Consumers are saturated with advertising
and commercials enticing them with overwhelming impulses to buy
their products. Look at the thousands of images that pop up everyday
on your tv, magazines, books, internet, billboards and junk mail.
These images are ingrained in us and when we get hungry we think
of Juicy cheeseburgers with golden french fries and a nice refreshing
cola to wash it down. Golden fried crispy chicken, chocolate
gooey treats, Ice cream in multiple swirl flavors with that delicious
waffle cone to bring it all together. Did I just make you hungry
again? Look at all the pizza commercials. Makes your mouth water
doesn't it? Not only is it attractive but it is convenient. Just
pick up the phone and have it delivered within 30 minutes or
go through the drive thru. It's fast and takes care of our insatiable
craving until our next meal.

Advertisers know that they have the
upper hand in getting you to buy their products and that is why
they spend millions in advertising. Other countries are now seeing
a rise in obesity since fast food establishments have been introduced
by american corporations such as McDonalds, Burger King and many
others.
Our health is in serious jeopardy
and the cost for treatment is staggering. If you become overweight
and have a heart attack do you really think the fast food corporations
care? If you become diabetic and need routine insulin shots do
you think they care? Corporate america does not care about your
health. The bottom line is the almighty dollar and they will
do anything to sell you their products.
We need to step back and look at our
own behavior to this madness. We need to say to ourselves:
-
I will
not let advertising influence my buying behavior.
-
I will
not let the corporate greed jeopardize the outcome
of my health.
-
I will
not let corporate greed bring financial ruin
to my family for the recovery from health issues
arising from obesity and associated health risks.
-
Is
that 5 minute gratification meal worth the misery
that I will incur later?
-
I will
eat to live and not live to eat.
We must be responsible for ourselves.
No one can make the proper decision for you. You have to look
at your own eating habits and decide if you like where your heading.
Only you can decide if you want to eat nutritional foods which
will ultimately bring you a sense of well being.
If you decide to eat only healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables then
you will ultimately lose weight If you stick with it. You will gain physical
mobility while regaining your energy to
accomplish more and eating healthy will of course reduce all health risks.
Every cell or gene in your body (and
you have trillions of them) requires the proper nutrition
to heal or eliminate the bad cells. If you only put
bad food in then you will
get more bad cells than good cells. This can only
translate to negative health issues.
Our bodies have an amazing system
to cure ourselves from any disease including cancer but we must
give our bodies the proper tools, nutrition and exercise to fight
back.
Your health and your family's health
should be your number one priority. Don't let corporate america
control you with their advertising but take control for yourself.
Be a role model for your family and friends. They will see how
you have changed for the better and want to join in.
Lastly, don't look at the possibility
of failure but look at the possibilities!. Decide to eat healthy.
You will feel healthy and happy and the rest of your problems
will take care of them selves. |
